CONSTRUCTION: The conductors run parallel and are slightly twisted. This established technique has proven to be an effective shield against high-frequency and electromagnetic interference.
A) Conductors: Silver-plated 99.9999% oxygen-free, high-purity copper conductors offer excellent conductivity. They are less prone to becoming brittle or cracking over time compared to solid-core cables. Silver is an excellent conductor and, combined with high-purity copper, offers impressive electrical properties.
B) Dielectric: A Teflon FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) dielectric is chemically inert and has a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range. FEP has excellent resistance to cracking under tension and a low coefficient of friction, making it an ideal material for dielectrics due to both its heat resistance and excellent electrical insulation.
C) Filler: A cotton filler gives the cable greater internal stability and reduces microphonics. Cotton also has excellent dielectric properties.
D) Inner Jacket: A Mylar inner jacket separates the inner conductors from the flexible PVC outer jacket. The combination of paper, cotton, and PVC further improves the dielectric properties.
E) Shielding: A grounded OFC shield prevents high-frequency interference and protects against common-mode noise that could affect the live and neutral conductors.
F) Outer Jacket: With a PVC outer jacket, the cable is not only exceptionally flexible but also mechanically robust.
PLUGS: The Sequel cable is fitted with IsoTeks audiophile plugs made of 24-karat gold-plated 90% copper and 10% zinc.
